Anti-Bug Brew
Anti-Bug Brew directions
  • Shake well before every use.  We don't use chemical emulsifiers, so our oils can separate over time.

  • Spray directly onto clothes, hair, or skin.  To apply to sensitive areas like the face, spray on hands first and then apply, or spray on your hat or hair while shielding your face.

  • Do not inhale.  Even healthy stuff like lettuce and orange juice are not meant to be inhaled into the lungs.  Essential oils are no different.  Do not use as an eyewash, nasal spray, or suppository.

  • Hold the bottle upwind and spray downwind.  The bottles create a fine spray that will get swept away in a breeze, so spraying upwind tends to waste a lot of  bug repellant.  That's fine with us, but we thought we should at least tell you.

  • Re-apply every one to four hours depending on how nasty the bugs are.  Sometimes it works for hours, sometimes not.

  • Please note that while Mad Mike's Anti-Bug Brew doesn't keep bugs away, it keeps them from landing and biting.  If you want to avoid getting bitten, treat the skin in question.  You can normally avoid bugs in the facial area without treating the face itself by treating hair, a hat, or surrounding clothes.  But this strategy typically won't work for your ankles unless you're wearing hats for shoes or have thick hair covering your feet.

  • May cause irritation in rare cases.  If skin becomes irritated, wash with water and reduce or discontinue use.  If product gets in the eyes, flush with water for several minutes.  See your doctor if irritation persists.

  • Contains alcohol which may dry the skin.  The essential oils and aloe in Mad Mike's Anti-Bug Brew tend to moisturize the skin and offset the drying effect of alcohol, but some people may still be sensitive.  If this happens, either use a skin moisturizer or discontinue use of the Anti-Bug Brew.

  • Contains ingredients which can harm some synthetic fabrics.  We actually haven't seen any cases of fabric being damaged by the Anti-Bug Brew, but we know it can happen in theory.  If you have any doubts about a piece of clothing, either don't use the Anti-Bug-Brew on it, or test the spray on a small unobtrusive area (like the inside of a shirt tail) first.
